This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: John 14:12

“Yet he says, ‘You will do greater works.’ As I attempt to understand these words, I believe Jesus means that his followers will do greater works by extending his kingdom.” –John Ryser, Fruit of the Vine

Query: How are you participating in even “greater works”?

True seekers

throughout the ages

have tried to peek past

curtains of creation.

In doing so,

they are respectful, aware,

not disturbing anything—

in tune with the earth

and the Spirit of Love.

Living this way,

emptying themselves

for the benefit

of others,

they create a clear

cleansing pool.
