This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Psalm 103:1–2

“I know it sounds obvious to say that remembering is important because it keeps us from forgetting – but it’s true. Numerous times, God commands us to remember. Why? When we don’t intentionally work at remembering what God has done for us, we forget God’s sovereignty” –Kay Wilson, Fruit of the Vine

Query: Do you remember and ponder God’s blessings in your life?

I choose

to live, move, and have my being

held in the orbit around

the presence at the center of love

Forgetting the need for careful balance

I sling out into the turning

all else blurring at the edge of my sight

face full to the blowing wind

No longer afraid of letting

someone go free

without enough condemnation

No longer afraid

to be free indeed

I need not strive

to live out a different metaphor

or fear love is too small a story

I choose

to narrow my narrative

to the infinite

–Bethany Lee, The Breath Between
