This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Psalm 62:5–8

“Rest clears our minds and helps us find focus and attentiveness to what God is doing in our midst. We may even see new possibilities, new opportunities which did not seem available in the moment, or renewed hope.” –Bob Henry, Fruit of the Vine

Query: How will you find some needed rest today?

but today

today b u r s t

blossoming into lingering

b l i s s

intertwining with fresh scar tissue

tenderly winding upward like ivy

archiving into long term memory

(box label reads: Best Days Ever)

a day born of deep Hope

not bred of flimsy wishing

but of discussions, planning, pain

of months strategizing, visioning, care

–Joann Renee Boswell, from “November” in Cosmic Pockets
