This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Luke 22:31–32

“I, too, have failed in proving my faith in Jesus. Over and over, I have denied the power of his name and walked instead by sight. But thankfully, Jesus lives to make intercession for us, and my faith does not fail, but grows, as he gives me more opportunities.” –Roxane Risner, Fruit of the Vine

Query: How is your faith growing stronger?

It’s a curious thing, but it feels like the present

Yes

This matters

This cup of tea

This body

This morning

This stuffy nose

These words

Either none of it matters

The earthquakes and the weddings

The light bill and the babies

The ocean and the stars

And the endings and

The bleeding hearts

Or all of it

You, too

–Bethany Lee, The Breath Between
