This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Habakkuk 3:17–18

“We may be richer or poorer, but God will still be walking with us every day in all of life’s situations. It’s what God has done for us lately, and what God will always do.” –Phil Baisley, Fruit of the Vine

Query: How has God been walking with you this week? What are you thankful for today?

Now and Forever

Our father in heaven tucks into himself

at the top of his dive.

He arches his back to match the span

of the black dome above his body.

Hallowed be his name, echoing in tumbles

all the way down to his landing.

Our daily bread received, the counter

rubbed down, no cumulus rain-maker

rinses through to drive us to sadness

before the star of morning arises in the east.

–Jeffrey Johnson, This Will Be a Sign
