This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Psalm 104:24–33

“God’s creative energy flows into and through all creatures, leading to even more creation. The Bible’s poets and singers wondered at it all and celebrated.” –Howard R. Macy, Fruit of the Vine

Query: Have you received today with gladness, even astonishment?

A snail winds

Her own home

From what she encounters

On the way

Coils from the earth

A shell of stone

Safety for her softness

Ever larger at the edges

If she traveled faster

She might miss

The gifts that came her way

It takes time to transform

Dust into shelter

–Bethany Lee, The Breath Between
