Robert Barclay in his Apology says “The worship, preaching, praying, and singing which we advocate are those which are a consequence of the Holy Spirit. They begin when the Spirit moves and are continued by its power and strength.” He contrasts this with worship that begins, is carried on, and ends with human will and strength.
