I am a Kansas farm kid who God led to the California city. I spent my first 15 years on this coast serving the great folks of East Whittier Friends Church, 12 years as pastor. Six years ago I joined the faculty of the Haggard Graduate School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University as the Friends Center director. The Friends Center is the partnership between Friends and the School of Theology. I get to teach and encourage ministry leaders both in the seminary and in our local churches. A whole lot of what I learned on the farm applies to pastoral ministry and education: plant, pray, cultivate, wait, and enjoy the harvest.
