John Geib

Dr. Kathleen Geib and I were married at 19, and 35 years later are still together in the Lord. We live in West Palm Beach, Florida, with our cat Narnia, where Kathleen is a professor of nursing at Palm Beach Atlantic University and I am an itinerant Bible teacher while I search for a new academic assignment. Previous to our relocation to Florida, I taught from 1985-2003 in the School of Theology at Malone College in Canton, Ohio, as an assistant professor of biblical studies and Kathleen taught from 1991-2003 in the School of Nursing.
My life purpose is to live, research, and teach the Christocentric, biblical worldview in academic, community, and literary contexts, which is one reason I appreciate my association with Barclay Press. Since 1986, I have operated “Ezra Enterprises,” an educational service that endeavors to promote biblical knowledge within local churches and society via which I made over 500 presentations in local churches and social contexts. In 2005, I enjoyed meeting old and new Friends as the keynote speaker for the Evangelical Friends Church Eastern Region “Servants of Youth” Regional Conference, March 11-13, 2005, Morgantown, West Virginia, where I spoke on “How to Study, Interpret, and Teach the Bible.” I also enjoyed reconnecting with Friends as the homecoming guest and speaker for Malone College, Canton, Ohio (October 14-17, 2005).
In the last two years, the Lord has allowed me to travel over 70,000 miles to three continents in a number of exciting assignments. From 2004-present, I have been the board vice president and consultant to Remember Nhu a 501-c non-profit missionary organization dedicated to eliminating the trafficking of children in the sex slave trade.
In 2005, I went twice to Ghana, Africa, as a Bible teacher for “Teams to the Nations,” a missionary extension of Cuyahoga Valley Community Church, Broadview Heights, Ohio, in cooperation with The Ghana Baptist Convention.
I recently completed a chapter titled “War and Peace in Christian Tradition: Why I am an Engaged Christian Pacifist,” that will appear in Philosophical Perspectives on the War on Terrorism, eds. G. Presbey and W. Hamblet. Kenilworth, NJ: Rodopi Press, in press, 2006. I am currently working on a book about the Three Marys—a multimedia work that includes a song and lyrics I wrote, original artwork, and a biblical study on Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary of Bethany, and Mary of Magdalea.
