Stan Thornburg

My wife, Cathy, and I have served as pastors in Plains, Kansas; Portland, Oregon; Tacoma, Washington; and now Newberg, Oregon. We have two grown children, Max and Haley.
North Valley Friends Church in Newberg, Oregon, has released me to serve on their pastoral team. I started there in October of 2004 and am finding it an energizing and challenging faith community. I am also part of Mustard Seed Associates, an organization that grew out of Tom Sine's vision to support churches, individuals, and Christian organizations as they try to intersect with the fast-changing culture. This role gives me exposure to many of the cutting-edge ministries to postmoderns around the globe. I find it very exciting.
My hobbies these days: (1.) Cooking for a few friends as a prelude to an evening of conversation. (2.) Cycling. Riding my bicycle through the Willamette Valley countryside is spiritually renewing and exhilarating. (3.) Watching the culture outside the church for signs of God working through film, art, music, dance, etc. (4.) Watching foreign films.
