Gerald Wilson

Dr. Gerald Wilson, a biblical studies professor at Azusa Pacific University in California, died Friday, November 11, 2005, of a heart attack. He was a professor at Azusa Pacific University from 1999 until the time of his death. Wilson was an expert in the Psalms, a topic in which he has been widely published. His books include The Editing of Hebrew Psalter and Psalms, Volume One. He was a member of the Catholic Biblical Association, the Society of Biblical Literature, and the Tyndale Fellowship for Biblical and Theological Research Expertise. Wilson was the 2002 recipient of Azusa Pacific University's Faculty Outstanding Scholarship Achievement Award.
Wilson earned his B.A. in religion from Baylor University, M.Div. and M.A. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Yale University. From 1979 to 1999 he served as an assistant professor of religion at the University of Georgia, a religious studies and Old Testament professor at George Fox University, and an Old Testament professor at the University of Portland and Western Evangelical Seminary. He is survived by his wife Diane, son Micah, and daughter Meghan.
