Carl Ralston

Laura and I were married in 1988 and through God's amazing grace, we have a great marriage. We live in Akron, Ohio, where I am a businessman. I started in the insurance business in 1985, and now Laura and I own Ralston's Affordable Insurance, Inc., an independent agency; and Affordable Insurance, Inc., a group with more than 30 insurance agencies writing business under our umbrella.
I graduated in 1992 from Malone College, Canton, Ohio (B.A. in business management), and in 2004 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Illinois (M.A. in religion). My integrated final paper at Trinity focused on setting up international partnerships between “Remember Nhu” and ministries dedicated to eliminating the use of children in the sex trade industry in Southeast Asia.
A major part of God's plan for my life is to eliminate the use of children in the sex trade industry around the world. I am committed to using every ability, talent, and gift that God has given me to glorify God in this plan. My current ministry focus is speaking in congregations to raise awareness about the plight of children around the world who are at risk from the sex trade industry. So far, I have spoken to groups of ten to 1,500 in Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Oregon, and Thailand. Because I am self-employed, I am available to travel and speak almost any time. My wife is excellent at speaking to three- to eleven-year-olds about the children of Asia.
I am excited about two new areas of opportunity to prevent the use of children in the sex trade. Remember Nhu is currently working with individuals, groups, and churches to provide full sponsorship for children's homes in Thailand. In this way these individuals, groups, and churches are able to develop long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with the children. I am also in the process of setting up businesses in Cambodia. These businesses will employ widows, single parents, and children who have no further educational options and who are at risk of the sex trade, and the jobs will pay two to three times the average wage in Cambodia. Then during a three- to five-year period, the businesses will be paid off and turned over to those working in each business.
Jesus says, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me” (Mark 9:37). This verse has come to mean a great deal in my life. The song “I Give You My Heart” summarizes my feelings about the ministry called Remember Nhu to which God has called me.
